enter an internal name for the new type, the name must:
- be unique
- can only use letters and he under bar character
- it cannot contain spaces
- it must not be a keyword
The display name is the text displayed to the user and can contain characters etc. You have
now created your new type but it only has a single field (the name) and will probably need
other fields adding.
New fields can be added (or deleted) to your new data type by clicking on your the data type.
You will need to:
- enter a name for the field (see the rules for names above).
- enter a display name for that field.
- set a data type for each field (it can be any data type on the system)
- set the field as unique if it will hold a unique identifier for this type
- if the field should allways contain a value then set optional to no
- if users cannot alter this field then set to read only. If the data is read from
a feed then all fields will be read only by default.
- the display priority dictates how high the field will appear in the display box
If a new field can only contain certain values then you can enter the valid values
here. If a feed supplys a different value for this field then a warning will be generated.
Now you have created your new data type you can create a feed to supply the data.
